Let's Try to Make it Easy for You

On Tweehive Day 1 the scenario is that we are a secondary swarm i.e. a small and quite vulnerable community formed around a new and inexperienced queen.

We have just taken up residence a new cavity. There are combs to be built, a desperate need to build up food stores, we will need to cope with issues that crop up all day, ranging from defending the colony to weather. A counter will track our progress and you will be set tasks through the day. At the end of the day we will see if we have done enough to survive. It's touch and go.

Here's what you need to do:

  • Change your profile picture to a bee, and tweet 'as a bee'; see the 'notes from our first meeting' blog post for some examples of this. You can choose any character, except the queen, but as in real bee colonies you may be called to change role if we need more guards, foragers, nurses etc.
  • You will need to add #tweehive to every post so that all the bees tweets are part of one stream. See on right the most recent #tweehive tweets
  • Follow the #tweehive stream - just search within twitter for tweehive, or you can use one of the twitter applications like monitter or tweetdeck - to interact with other bees; for instance if you are a courtier bee you need to be constantly licking the queen to keep her clean and bug free, you do this through @twitterusername to direct it their way
  • Forage for pollen and nectar counter widgets. These will be on bee friendly sites. When you find one (it's a treasure hunt game) then post a link on Twitter and lead other bees there. Obviously other bees please RT (retweet) these links.
  • Check THE COUNTER on our home page to see how the hive is doing.
